REVIEW OF VERDANZA HOTEL, SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO

A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS

A quiet side street, a well landscaped entry,
A doorman, who smiles while holding the door,
Desk clerks, who say, “Have a good day!"

Large rooms, ocean views, prompt wakeup calls,
Sweet lady wishing me to enjoy my stay;
Do you have to have more?

Great restaurants, quiet nooks, big cookies,
Waiters, who say, “Buen Probecho” like they mean it;
Great courtyard, big pool, colorful flowers,
Short stroll to the beach, Caribbean chic;
Oh, was I glad!

The Verdanza has so many of my favorite things;
But room with no wifi made me feel sad.

Yee's Asian Bistro for dinner.
A special request, a chef who didn’t get mad;
Food made my way clearly a winner.

Eighty20 Bistro, best breakfast, try the coffee; you will like it.

Thank you, Verdanza, I really did enjoy my stay!

Good morning Puerto Rico.

Good morning Puerto Rico. It is good to be back. Another bright sun shiny day, while the north shivers under a blanket of snow.

From our plateau overlooking the lake we supervise the avian activity. Feisty little bird beaks snap capturing breakfast. A solitary white bird snatches a gecko off a palm tree. An elusive pair of large grey parrots flies down to the lake as soon as the sun peaks over the ridge. A tiny shy bird weaves grass into a nest suspended from a slim tree branch. Roosters crow until midmorning.

The breeze begins as the sun warms up the air. The neighbor kid is working on his motorcycle, vroom, vroom; it’s time to do laundry.
